JJ goes on tour with Flipping and Frying to launch ‘Chippy’ Chip

National wholesaler JJ Food Service has added a frozen ‘Chippy Chip’ (CHP153) to its own-label range to help fish and chip shops and mobile caterers to save time, labour and overhead costs.

Group General Manager of JJ Food Service Terry Larkin said, “Prepping your own potatoes is an ideal way to make traditional chips, but it can also be expensive and time consuming. We’ve noticed that attitudes in this area are changing and our customers are being more open-minded about new ways of doing things – our new chip is a perfect alternative or ‘back up’ to freshly cut chips.”

A special coating gives the new 9/16m chip a unique, crispy texture, which retains heat and crispiness for longer. “We all dread the soggy chip”, said Larkin. “Our chips are consistently crunchy, even with takeaway orders – particularly if you use our sturdy cardboard packaging. Using frozen chips also helps to cut down on waste and support portion control, too”, he added.

The chips are made with sunflower oil in a gluten-free environment and are available at a promotional price of £5.79/4×2.27kg (collection) until June 30th.

To showcase the product, JJ has joined forces with mobile fish and chip specialist Flipping and Frying to offer Fish and Chip Open Days at JJ branches across the country. “We will have a range of fish and chip essentials to sample – so come along, it’s completely free!”

The open days are being held at the following locations from 11am-2pm:

  • 16th July Doncaster, DN3 3FD
  • 23th July Newcastle, NE4 7LA
  • 20th August Manchester, M27 8UJ
  • 27th August Leeds, LS11 5BX
