JJ Foodservice helps more women to move up the talent pipeline

National wholesaler JJ Foodservice has announced that more than half of applications for its recent branch manager vacancies were from females – a first for the business.

Chief Operating Officer for JJ Foodservice, Mushtaque Ahmed, said:

 “Traditionally, it has always been men that have applied for these roles. But our investment in training and initiatives like our ‘Warehouse Women’ recruitment campaign have helped to attract more females to the business and give existing female workers more confidence.”

The roles advertised were for branch manager positions at the Leeds and Sidcup sites. “Despite not making the final cut, having 50% female applicants shows that we are on the right tracks to developing a good level of diversity in our pipeline,” said Mushtaque.

 Last year, JJ Foodservice achieved a record £201m turnover – the business is growing fast and investing heavily in people development.

“We need the best talent to take our business forward – we are encouraging all our employees – regardless of gender, sexuality or ethnic background – to push themselves as far as they can go. We provide on-the-job training and support,” added Mushtaque.
