JJ Celebrates ‘Uniqueness’ for National Fish and Chip Day

National wholesaler JJ Food Service is celebrating National Fish and Chip Day by announcing the winners of its ‘Unique Dish’ competition.

Last month the business invited fish and chip shops to submit their ‘signature dish’ via social media for the chance to win their own online ordering FOODit website and, to add to the theme of quirkiness, a Cadbury chocolate fish!

The wholesaler is celebrating the uniqueness of independents by sharing all entries via a ‘We Love Unique’ social media campaign (below) – designed specifically for National Fish and Chip Day. Group General Manager for JJ Food Service, Terry Larkin said, “We were sent all sorts of tasty dishes. In the end, the quirkiest had to win.”

And the winners were: Merdian Fish Bar, Watford, with pea fritters and gluten-free sausage, chips and onion rings; Burton Road Chippy, Lincoln, with poached fish, deep-fried halloumi and fresh salad; Poppies, London, with jellied eels and chips; The Chip Inn, Whitwell, with deep-fried spam and chips, and Kingfisher, Kingston, with home-made tartar sauce and mushy peas.
