WiW Announces 2018 theme – Progress to Success

Organisers of Women in Wholesale (WiW) have announced that the theme for the 2018 conference taking place on September 11th in London, will be ‘Progress to Success.’

Opening the day will be Debbie Harrison, Joint Managing Director of Pricecheck (pictured below) – a fast-growing UK wholesaler and member of the Today’s Group.

Debbie - Boardroom

Debbie has worked in her family wholesale and distribution company for 30 years, learning the business from the bottom up. She took full control of the company, together with her brother, in 2007 and since then has helped it to grow from £17 million to £73 million.

Debbie believes a diverse workforce is key to long-term success as employees have different strengths, backgrounds, and experiences. These differences help to make creative, smart business decisions, which is why women hold half the senior positions at Pricecheck.

Pricecheck supplies FMCG throughout the UK, exports to over 75 countries. The company has 150 employees and ambitious plans to reach £200m turnover by 2025.

Additional speakers include Patrick Mitchell-Fox, Senior Business Analyst from IGD offering insight into the challenges and opportunities in the wholesale market. Caroline Moloney, Head of Learning and Development at Bestway, will discuss ‘Emotional Intelligence’ and Tom Gittins, Business Development Director at Confex will talk about ‘Inspiring and Motivating Teams.’

Panel discussion themes will include ‘How to Talk to Your Boss’ and ‘The Essential Habits of Confidence.’ The guest speaker is Heather Melville, OBE, Director of Strategic Partnerships for RBS who will share her inspiring journey as the first women to drive female leaders in banking.

WiW Founder Elit Rowland said, “Our early events were about inspiring and supporting women –this year is about giving delegates the market knowledge and skills they need to move their personal careers and businesses forward, fast. It will be a day well spent.”

About Women in Wholesale

WiW is an educational networking event set up in 2016 to inspire, support and progress women working in wholesale on both the wholesale and FMCG side. Following a successful conference, a mid-conference event was launched to support peer networking and launch useful resources. A WiW Steering Committee was set up in 2017 to support the growth and development of the initiative. WiW delegates are 80% female and 20% male. The majority of attendees are UK grocery and foodservice wholesalers, followed by FMCG brands. For more information visit: http://www.newerapr.co.uk/women-in-wholesale/
